Denise Robinson Obituary

Glenville, NY – Denise L. Robinson, 100, passed away on October 3, 2023 at the home of her daughter in Glenville, following a short illness.

She was born on July 31, 1923 in Le Havre, France, the daughter of Marcel and Madeleine (Poutrel) LeMaistre.

Mrs. Robinson was united in marriage to her husband, Henry J. Robinson, in St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Le Havre, France on March 16, 1946.  They resided in Paris, France for six months after their marriage before moving to New Jersey.  They moved to Staten Island in 1950, making this their home for many years.  Henry passed away on March 5, 1975.

Mrs. Robinson was a stay-at-home mother raising their children. Later in life, she was employed as a secretary for the Bank of New York in Manhattan.   In 1990 she moved to Granville, N.Y. to live closer to her daughter. 

She was formerly a member of the Church of the Holy Child in Staten Island, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Granville and currently is a communicant of the Church of St Vincent de Paul in Albany.  Her faith in God was always an integral part of her life and the way she lived her life was witness to this.

Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband Henry J. Robinson, she is predeceased by both her brother Maurice LeMaistre and his wife Lucienne and her friend, Geraldine Westerberg..

She is survived by her six children and their families: her son, Patrick Robinson and his wife Kathleen; her daughter, Madeleine Doane and her husband James; her daughter, Anne Ryan and her husband Robert; her daughter, Monica Heath and her husband Michael; her son, Henry Robinson; her daughter, Mary Gabrielle Oill and her husband Steven.  Her grandchildren include Kathleen Williams and her husband Michael, Robert Ryan and his wife Brittany, Patrick Robinson, Sarah Bush and her husband Kenneth, Matthew Ryan and his wife Kristen, James Doane and his wife Angela, Gregory Doane and his wife Sarah, Claire Robinson and her husband Nathan, Adam Robinson, Mark Robinson and his wife Linda, Matthew Oill.  Her great-grandchildren are Brody, Madison, Mitchell, Connor, Ashlyn, Sean, Griffin, Callan, Adelaide, Eleanor, Raegan, Tucker and Thomas.  She is also survived by her cousin, Gilberte Legendre of France.

A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 1pm at the Church of St Vincent de Paul , Albany, N.Y. with the Very Rev. Robert Longobucco presiding.

Friends may call on the family at the Church of St. Vincent De Paul on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 11:30am until the time of the services.

A Rite of Committal will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 12:30pm in the Moravian Cemetery in Staten Island, New York.
